In October 2010 I decided to move back onto Telkom ADSL after trialing Neotel for a year. The main reason for leaving Neotel was that the connection was erratic and unstable. I would have a green light (good signal) which would drop to a red light (bad connection) at random times. Speeds went from good to terrible to downright unusable and I found myself utilising 3G backups often. The Neotel product offering was also extremely inflexible in terms of data usage. With all other service providers, if you see you are going to be using alot of data you can buy a data bundle to buffer the costs. With Neotel, you get 5Gb and pay a out of bundle cost of 8 cents per megabyte. The result was that some months, when things were quiet, I didn't use my 5Gb thereby wasting bandwidth. Other months I would end up requiring 10+ Gb costing me a nice out of bundle charge.
